Hi
APOLOGIES E-MAIL VIA THIS SITE ISN’T WORKING SO PLEASE PHONE THE SHOP WITH ANY QUERIES : 017687-80304
Keswick is looking very festive & the shop continues to be very busy, so we can’t complain about anything, apart from the weather which has had its challenges.
The big news for us is that we have a buyer for the shop & the sale is currently in the hands of solicitors, so we’re just waiting for everything to be completed. We’ve been really pleased by the amount of serious interest we’ve had in the business & the determination of potential buyers in a world of obstructive, unhelpful banks. So, congratulations to Tanya who beat off the opposition, who should, hopefully, take up her post in the new year. Tanya has a lot of experience in design & soft furnishings & we’re confident that she’ll take the business to new heights. She is full of ideas, but not intent on change for the sake of change. It was important to find someone we had confidence in for the sake of the loyal band of merry, back room workers who have worked so hard & deserve to have continued employment. We hope to support Tanya in whatever way we can.
We will close for Christmas on Friday, 23rd at 1.00pm. And, while we wait for solicitors to do their bit, we reopen on Wednesday 4th January, 10.00. Hopefully, Tanya will take over within a couple of weeks. Although I am desperately keen to finish & have a long holiday, I will be very sad to end such a happy chapter in my life. I have met & enjoyed the company of so many lovely people during my nine years, selling fabric in Keswick. I have received wonderful support from locals & visitors alike & I thank everyone who has made Textures such a successful & fun place to work. Special thanks to my loyal team of workers, the Textures family who have been incredibly industrious and accommodating: Karin, Linda, Dawn, Carol and Lesley. From the early days, Miriam, Di & Sandra were such solid workers. Special thanks to Kathleen who did the worst job of all, the accounts, for many years. And Frances who does the accounts, now, and who has been such a solid, reliable friend to the business.
Despite the changes, we are getting new stock in every week; we are off buying fabric tomorrow, so that Tanya has a full shop & a good start in January.
Exciting new sample books arrived in the shop : Chatham Glyn have some new classic designs & a range very similar to the popular ‘Voyage’ fabrics. We also have another collection from Biggie Best, French inspired florals combined with crisp, fresh checks & stripes. And, another range of wool tartans, this one with a more summery, coastal feel, in more pastel shades. Our wool tartans are £39.95 per m & selling awfully well.
If you haven’t seen them yet, the ‘St. Judes’ collection is causing a stir. I’ve noticed that these designs are beginning to creep into the house magazines. These are fabrics designed by print artists you will recognise from popular greetings cards e.g. Angie Lewin and Mark Herald. These are beautifully presented in June’s ‘Country Living’ magazine, under the section, ‘In the style of Edward Bawden’.
The new Vanessa Arbuthnott collection has started to attract attention. The hand printed fabrics in her subtle tones are so beautiful. Again you can look at these on her website, but please order through us.
Plenty of wonderful stuff in the shop, though, including some new ‘Dotty’, tie on, seat pads. We’re often asked for these for kitchen/ outdoor chairs so these are now available in the shop, lots of lovely colours. We have an offer on these at the moment. £10 each or 2 for £18, 4 for £34. We’re having one or two problems with the web site so it’s not as brimming full of new things, such as the seat pads as we’d hoped.
The ‘Clarke & Clarke’ prints are selling very well as are the pvc versions. This year’s ‘Nostalgic’ collection is, in my opinion, even better than last year’s sell-out modern prints. I am also a huge fan of their new collection of checks/stripes/ plains, very contmporary & country, at the same time, really classy colours.
Please feel free to e-mail us for samples of anything you see on the website and we’ll do our best to oblige.
All good wishes, Jayne.
